Aside from the usual law enforcement presence on area roadways, visitors to the Elk River basin should also be aware that they may be covertly observed while on the various streams comprising the basin.
Law enforcement personnel equipped with K-9 units are routinely observed issuing tickets to minors in possession of alcohol. So remember kids, just because you appear to be in the middle of the woods doesn’t mean you can get away with it.
We will have peace officers out and about, whether it be on the shores or waterways and we will summons or bring people to jail that violate the law.
We would like to advise the tourists not to drink in excess and respect others and especially around kids and families. We want the rivers to be a family atmosphere and want to encourage everyone to be safe and responsible.
